Ouch! You pulled something in your back while doing yard work. You’ve never had any back problems in the past so you are unfamiliar with Chiropractors in the Pennsylvania area. There’s at least a half dozen Chiropractors in the phone book close to you.  Which one should you pick? Which one has happy customers?

Yelp can help a potential customer decide which Pennsylvania Chiropractor Practice is worth their hard earned money. Yelp allows a customer to Search by Type of business (e.g. chiropractor) and Zip code, city/state, or address. Every business listing consists of a 5-point rating system, reviews by patients, and addition information such as address of practice, hours, and parking.

By being able to read reviews by others, you are able to make a better decision about which Chiropractor is best. With Yelp, there is no need to randomly choose a listing in the yellow pages or off a search engine.  The right information is in front of you.

So you pick a Chiropractor close by with solid reviews. They fix you up like new. You whistle to the radio the whole car ride home. You arrive home and log onto the Chiropractor’s Yelp page to write a glowing review of the service you received. 5-stars. You hope others see your review and take it to heart.

So what is Twitter exactly? Twitter is a micro blogging/social networking service that allows users to read and send short 140 character messages or “tweets”. Twitter popularity is increasingly growing in business and can be operated from a phone or home computer. How can this be beneficial to your Pennsylvania Restaurant  or Pub?
Twitter allows a business to target its customers in Real time. Maybe your business is a pizza shop in a Millersville, PA, for example. Back in March Search Engine Land had report on Google doing some testing in Google Maps with Hotel pricing.  The testing has expanded to even more US Google search users.  You will start to  notice that the Hotels Listings now have a price to the right side of the listings. The drop down then shows prices for sites such as Expedia, Priceline, and Hotels.com . There is also a link to the Hotel’s company website. However the price tab is only shows up on maybe 75% of the listings that I researched.

Google is continuing to improve how we use the web everyday. They are running tests like these everyday to help build a better a Search Engine for the end user. They also say that Google Maps still ranks hotel based on the relevance of  keyword terms and the geographic location being searched. The price of the Hotel has no impact on search result rankings.
It has been reported that this Hotel Pricing Testing has nothing to do with Google’s recent acquisition of ITA a Flight Information Software company from Cambridge, Massachusetts. ITA has been the software used for many flight booking companies such as Hotwire.com , Orbitz, Kayak and many others. They also handled Bing travel…….Ouch! That hurts now Google owns the software products that their direct competitor Bing Travel uses.
Here is a quote from Eric Schmidt CEO of Google about the deal with ITA Software.
“I wanted to let you know that Google has just announced that we have signed an agreement to acquire ITA Software, a Cambridge, Massachusetts flight information software company. Once we’ve completed our acquisition of ITA, we’ll work on creating New Flight Search Tools that will make it easier for consumers to Search for Flights, compare flight options and prices — and get consumers quickly to a site where they can buy a ticket.Though 49% of travelers purchase travel online, it is still time consuming and slow to search for travel options online. This deal will benefit passengers, airlines and online travel agencies by making it easier for users to comparison shop for flights and airfares online, and by driving more potential customers to airlines’ and online travel agencies’ websites.

Google won’t be setting airfare prices and has no plans to sell airline tickets to consumers. Our goal is to build tools that drive more traffic to airline and online travel agency sites where customers can purchase tickets.

Because Google doesn’t currently compete against ITA Software, the deal will not change existing market shares. We are looking forward to working with ITA’s current and future customers, and we will honor all existing agreements.”
